Isletas de Granada, wonder of nature of volcanic origin

The archipelago of the Isletas de Granada, in Nicaragua, is a wonder of nature, of volcanic origin, possibly formed by an explosion of the Mombacho volcano, when it was still active. In total, there are one for each day of the year, that is, they add up to 365. The islets are located in Lake Cocibolca, which is more than 8,000 square kilometers. Mansions have been built here for many wealthy families of the great sultana, as well as other departments of Nicaragua who occupy them for their vacations.

In others they built small hotels, resorts and restaurants to serve domestic and foreign tourists, some are uninhabited. In the different businesses that are on the islets they rent kayaks at reasonable prices, for lovers of sailing Lake Cocibolca is conducive to moving around in kayaks without major risks because the waves and winds are not so strong.

These islets are home to native birds and migratory birds, in some there are monkeys. Local families are dedicated to fishing or provide some type of service to visitors who request it. The islets of Granada can be reached by boats that make a tour of them or take tourists and then come and bring them when they request it. All the islets of Granada have well-kept vegetation and in summer, from many of them you can have an excellent view of the Mombacho volcano with its more than 1,345 meters above sea level.

If you visit Granada, do not miss a tour to the islets, 15 minutes from the colonial city, you will surely love it.
